Our Projects

Bio – Rene Doiron, Owner & Veteran

From a very young age, I began working alongside my father, who was both my teacher and mentor. I was just five years old when I started going to work with him, and by my early teens, I was regularly working evenings and weekends. Through those formative years, my father instilled in me a strong work ethic and a deep sense of pride in craftsmanship—values that have stayed with me throughout my life.

I graduated with honours in 1998 from high school in Vanderhoof, British Columbia. After graduation, I spent a year working full-time with my father before deciding to pursue a new adventure by joining the Canadian Armed Forces. In September 1999, I enlisted with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, 1st Regiment, based in Shilo, Manitoba. During my service, I completed a six-month peacekeeping tour in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2000 as part of Roto 7. At the end of my contract, I was honourably released from service in 2002.

Shortly after my release, I returned to the trades and began working with my father again—this time in Ontario. In 2005, we moved back west to Alberta to work on industrial oil sands projects. Over the years, I’ve worked on a range of large-scale sites, including Suncor, Long Lake SAGD Facility, Albian Sands, Cenovus Energy, and Cold Lake, Alberta.

In 2007, my father and I founded our own construction company, which we operated together until 2012, when he decided to return to Nova Scotia. After closing the company, I took on a role as a Site Superintendent for an industrial construction firm in Cold Lake, Alberta.

In 2015, I relocated to Peachland, in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, and continued my carpentry career. By 2016, I had stepped into the role of Site Superintendent for a construction management firm in Delta, BC, where I oversaw projects valued at up to $70 million.

In 2021, a close friend and I co-founded Cedarscape Contracting. For the past few years, I’ve been operating the company, and when my partner branched off 1.5 years ago, I took over full operations. Today, I lead a small, dedicated crew of 6–8 people and have recently opened a shop where I also create custom epoxy river tables, charcuterie boards, cutting boards, and handcrafted furniture.
